Fraud

Best Buy!

American Express invalide

Practicum Journal: Goal Setting

Meeting on March 21

The objective for this meeting is to develop a action plan based on the outcome of our invesitgation
The item we chose was delegation. During our discussion, I took approach as following

1) Asking open-ended question: such as what would you do in this situation? What do you think your employees will feel about this idea? How will you conduct a meeting like this? What is your back-up plan for your plan? The purpose of doing so is to encourage K come out with her own answers and also to present her a different point/side of view

2) To increase my credibility I often use examples from class. I often use what I have learned from class to give K examples of theories I mentioned/used during the converstation.  for instance quote from Professors, examples from books.

3) Give positive feedback: two goals for this approach. one is to encourage K's creativity and commitment, another one is to set an example of giving positive feedback since this is also one of areas where K wants to improve.

4) Provide options for K. We discuss meeting objectives, schedules all the time. By doing so, I want to give K a sense of ownership of this project. I want to present myself as her supporter but not the primary runner of this project.

Materials:
Breif Description for SMART Goal
Brief Description for
Information for Leadership styles

Discussion Approach:
To use more open ended questions (evaluation: good)
To leave space for K's comment, give her time to think and express (evaluation: good)
To go through thinking process yet do not give solution (evaluation: good)

Coaching Process Management
To schedule next step (evaluation:good)
To confirm my responsibilities and K's responsibilities (evaluation:good)
To get feedback from K on process/progress so far (evaluation: ok, could have asked more but better not to have it too long)

Overall:
I believe we have accomplished a lot during this meeting. K became very open to share her thoughts with me, even jokes. It is good to spend sometime to form a trusting relationship.

Practicum Journal: Meeting of feedback evaluation

Today K and I had a meeting to evaluation the first part of the assessment.

1) The meeting was about an hour. As usual, I would like to keep our meeting short for two reason. One: to not take too much time from K; Two: to give full attention on items we need to discuss. So far I think this approach has been working well

2) We discussed the feedback on K's communication and delegation style. I made sure to One: explain the rational of each question, Two: ask K for her perception of feedback, Three: give K my recommendations when I feel K has missed something.

3) At this point, I believe that I have formed a pretty good relationship with K. I can tell that she is comfortable talking with me and being open with me.

This book is a good resource for people who needs to understand American cultural. For instance, presently more and more Chinese firms feels the needs of globalization and consider America as their top destination. In order to work effectively with American co-workers, business associates, and government, Chinese firms need to pay close attention on American Culture.

Your Best Life Now:7 Steps With Joel Osteen to Living Your Full Potential

In case you haven't read one of the hottest-selling books in America, we're here to tell you that you're not living up to your full potential. And you'll never know how much potential you really have until you read Pastor Joel Osteen's tome.
Or, for the sake of brevity (and a small savings) we could just tell you here.

· Step One: Enlarge Your Vision
The key here is "your" vision—not God's or anyone else's. Be certain that you stay centered on what "you" desire. As Pastor Osteen reveals, "you" can drive any car you want, even a Lexus (which is what Pastor Osteen drives, thank God!) and you can live in the biggest and best house on the block (like Pastor Osteen) if you just enlarge your vision and dream the biggest dream you possibly can. Of course, you'll also have to dream up new ways to make money, and lots of it, but don't let anyone tell you that making more money is impossible. If you're working at Wal-Mart, get out now and start looking for that job with Donald Trump. Or better yet, become a pastor of a mega-church. That way you'll be certain to have more than one Lexus, just like pastor Joel.

· Step Two: Develop Your Self-Esteem
Okay, so you've been hearing this bit of advice for years. But this time pastor Osteen really means it! It's one of the seven keys to your full potential. Stop thinking of yourself as a doormat and start demanding your rights now! After all, if you don't believe in yourself, God won't either. And God knows—we all need to be able to think highly of ourselves if we're going to drive the kind of car that would give glory to God. That would be a Lexus, by the way.

· Step Three: Discover the Power of Thought
Are you thinking any thoughts right now? Good. You're not dead. Let's move on. No need to read this chapter.

· Step Four: Let Go of the Past
Do you have a past? Then let go of it for crying out loud! Your past is a waste of time. Things that happened in the past are past. Things that have not yet happened are part of your full potential. This is called the future. You should let go of the 1979 Gremlin and plan to buy yourself a 2005 Lexus. With sun roof. Tinted windows. Power locks. DVD player.

· Step Five: Find Strength Through Adversity
Are you having trouble scraping up enough dough to buy yourself that new Lexus? That's your adversity. Find strength in it. Don't give up on your vision (see chapter one). Hang in there, keep saving, eat more boxes of mac and cheese. Don't' waste your money on frivolous niceties like double-ply toilet paper or toothpaste (have you tried baking soda?). Stay strong and soon that new Lexus will be yours. Pastor Osteen drives a red Lexus, by the way.

· Step Six: Give Back to Others
We knew there was a Christian book in here somewhere and this is the step that proves it. As pastor Osteen points out, Jesus gave back to others. That's why you should give too. Here's how. Look under the back seat of your Lexus. There's probably some loose change rolling around down there. Put this in the offering plate and church and give thanks to God. Once you've given something to others, move onto to step seven.

· Step Seven: Choose to Be Happy
Pastor Osteen is always happy. He always begins his sermons with a joke and he always smiles at the camera. He wants you to be happy, too, which is why he wrote his book, so he could share his seven secrets about full potential with you and make you a happier person. If you are happy, this is proof that you are a child of God. God's people are always happy. Happy people drive Lexuses and live in big houses. Happy pastors serve big churches—really big churches—the kind of churches that can renovate old basketball arenas for the glory of God. Aren't you happy to know this? It's the greatest source of your full potential, which is why it's number seven.

A.B.C Time Tips:Merrill Douglass

For people who often face multiple tasks, never end to do list or just simply feel always running out of time, A.B.C Time Tips is my recommendation. Personally I have found and impletmented serveral tips into my life from it. The objective of this book is clear, to help you manage your time effectively so you can focus on your real priorities. It is a small book, short paragraphs, plain English, down to the point. Since it lists so many tips that I think I will keep it and cross off the ones that I have implemented so check my progress.

Dave
